SAFARI & CULTURE
DAY 1: Dar Es Salaam – Mikumi National Park
The adventure begins. Either upon your arrival at Julius Nyerere International airport or from your hotel, you will be welcomed by KIHINDO TOURS &
SAFARIS representative and driven on a 6-hour road ride in a fully equipped 4×4 vehicle amid luxuriant landscapes and lively villages. Upon reaching your destination and after refreshments, we will take you on a guided visit to the nearby Masai village. Dinner and overnight stay at MATEMBEZI SAFARI LODGE.

DAY 2: Safari at Mikumi National Park
Mikumi National Park, the fourth largest in Tanzania is located in the Morogoro region between the Uluguru Mountains and the Lumango. The adventure continues. After a rich breakfast, we start a full-day game drive across the
Mikumi National Park. This is an open park home to lions, elephants, buffalos, impalas, zebras and the list goes on! You will be offered a picnic for lunch at one of the campsites. Dinner and overnight stay at the MATEMBEZI SAFARI LODGE.

DAY 3: Transfer from Mikumi National Park to Selous Game Reserve (Nyerere National Park)
On the road again. Departure in the morning after breakfast. Upon reaching your lodge at the Selous Game Reserve we take you on a boat safari on the Rufiji River sliding by crocodiles and hippos while discovering a stunning variety of birds. Dinner and overnight stay at the MLOKA LODGE.

DAY 4: Safari at Selous Game Reserve (Nyerere National Park)
Named after the legendary British explorer, Selous Game Reserve was founded as a reserve in 1905. It later expanded to include the traditional elephant
migration routes. Today renamed Nyerere National Park it covers an area three times the size of the Serengeti National Park and twice the size of
Belgium. After breakfast, a new full-day safari begins. The Selous Reserve offers a diversity of fauna and flora: here you will be amazed by the wildlife and nature. Lakes host an array of aquatic fauna, magnificent baobab trees,
extended plains, hills, bush, and forest where you will pass by giraffes, elephants, warthogs, the rare wild dogs, among so many others, birds, monkeys, and the list goes on…. At lunch, you will be offered a rich meal box and after a pause in a dedicated picnic area, you will continue your safari. Dinner and overnight stay at the Mloka Lodge.

DAY 5: Selous Game Reserve (Nyerere National Park) & Transfer to Mafia Island
A different thrill…. Escorted by rangers you will start your day walking in the wild for 2:30 hours learning about the life in the bush and discovering the less visible animal life. A rich breakfast will be served upon returning to the lodge, before leaving for Dar es Salaam and being transferred (by air or sea) to Mafia Island.
Activity: Walk in the bush and discover – road transfer to Dar es Salaam and air (or sea) transfer to MAFIA ISLAND.
DAY 6 TO 10: Mafia Island
Mafia Bungalows Resort will be your home on this welcoming yet unspoiled
island. A limousine service is ensured at your arrival to drive you from the Organize your stay at your own rhythm! Mafia Island is a marine natural reserve
surrounded by soft and hard coral reefs with a diversity of tropical fish specimens.
If you are visiting the island between October and March, you’ll have the opportunity to snorkel among the whale sharks. Between July and October, you will spot the humpback whales and from June to September you can join in a turtle-hatching excursion and witness hundreds of baby turtles scramble from the sandy beaches to the warm waters of the Indian Ocean.
Throughout the seasons you can enjoy world-class day and night diving, offshore excursions to the nearby island of Cholé, visit the ruins of the ancient prosperous Arab settlement on Kwa island, enjoy a sunset on the sandbanks, as well as inland excursions to the lighthouse, the fishermen village through its luxuriant landscapes, home to a variety of wildlife or simply relax! Airport at Kilindoni to the Resort located at the marine reserve and from the Resort to the airport when leaving. 5 nights in a double bungalow, with breakfast and dinner, are included in this package.
