Experience the breathtaking wilderness of Nyerere National Park, formerly known as Selous Game Reserve, on this immersive three-day tour. Departing from and ending in Dar es Salaam, this adventure includes thrilling boat tours on the mighty Rufiji River and full-day game drives. Your accommodations will be at the comfortable Mloka Safaris Lodge, located just outside the park.
Tour Plan
You will be picked up in the morning from your hotel, ferry, or the airport after breakfast and embark on a four-to-five hour drive to Nyerere National Park (Selous). Upon arrival, enjoy a hot lunch at the camp followed by a short rest. At 4:00 pm, set out on an evening boat safari along the Rufiji River for approximately 2.5 hours. During the safari, you will encounter a variety of bird species, numerous crocodiles, and hippos. In the evening, you’ll return for your overnight stay at Mloka Safari Lodge.
After an early breakfast at the lodge, you’ll set out on a full-day game drive with packed lunch boxes in hand. Enjoy a picnic lunch at a scenic spot chosen by your guide, then continue exploring the vast landscapes of Nyerere National Park, where you may encounter lions, elephants, buffalos, hippos, giraffes, rhinos, leopards, wild dogs, hyenas, impalas, wildebeests, and a diverse array of bird species. In the late afternoon, you’ll return to your accommodations for an evening of relaxation, followed by dinner and your overnight stay.
After a leisurely breakfast at Mloka Safari Lodge, you will visit a Maasai village for two hours. Afterward, you’ll begin your journey back to Dar es Salaam with a packed lunch in hand. You will stop en route for a picnic lunch before continuing to the city. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to your drop-off point, whether for a flight to your next destination or a boat, depending on your travel plans.
